About me

Like many people, I went through a fairly long period of time of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. That period taught me that I value two things above all else: storytelling and community.

Family has always been the center point of my life. Listening to my great grandparents tell stories about their lives was priceless. I loved it. There was so much I didn’t know, and learning about the history of my family was so special to me.

I didn’t, and don’t, exclusively love stories about my family. I love knowing people. I value diverse experiences so much — everyone on this spinning rock has a unique story that informs who they are, what they do, and why they do it.

I chose journalism because it weaves together the two things that I care about the most.

I’m so fortunate to have the opportunity to tell personal, important stories that are cherished by those they belong to.

I understand the power and significance journalism holds. Because of this, I’m passionate about reporting fairly on diverse communities. I believe it’s the job of journalism to tell all stories, even the hard, scary, heavy ones. This is what we owe our audiences.

I’m honored to be able to tell stories. There’s truly nothing better.
